TAMPA (October 12, 2000) - AMC Theatres is bringing its award-winning customer service and latest advancements in movie theatre design to Tampa with the grand opening of AMC WestShore 14 Theatres on November 10. The theatre will be the first in a series of exciting developments in the newly updated WestShore Plaza, located at the corner of WestShore Boulevard and Kennedy off I-275.

AMC's grand opening kicks off with a co-sponsored gala benefiting the Tampa Museum of Art on Thursday, November 9 at 7 p.m. The event will be held in the new wing of WestShore Plaza and will feature an open bar, entertainment from several local bands, a silent auction and catering provided by restaurants and eateries located in WestShore Plaza as well as Carlino's Catering. Attendees have an opportunity to be the first to see a movie in the new AMC WestShore 14 Theatres following the VIP reception. Patron level tickets are available and range from $100-$250 and include a champagne reception at 6:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $50 and all tickets can be reserved by calling the Tampa Museum of Art at (813) 274-8130.

"We are very excited to have the opportunity to provide Tampa with an entertainment venue the entire family can enjoy," said Phil Singleton, president and chief operating officer of American Multi-Cinema, Inc. "At AMC WestShore 14 Theatres, we've paid attention to every detail to ensure an enhanced moviegoing experience for each of our customers."

AMC WestShore 14 Theatres is located on the second floor of the recently expanded WestShore Plaza, and is more than 58,000 square feet with approximately 2,600 seats. It also features wall-to-wall screens, radius-curved seating that allows each seat to face the center of the screen and enhanced LoveSeat' stadium-style seating with retractable cupholder armrests. Other amenities include double-aisle rows and digital sound in all theatres.

In addition, the new theatre will feature four automated box offices and eight ticket-selling stations. If you love going to the movies but hate long lines, AMC enables customers to buy tickets online and pick them up at any of the automated box offices. To order tickets online, visit www.movietickets.com.

The concession stands feature classic theatre fare such as grilled hot dogs, nachos, candy, and of course, hot, buttered popcorn and soft drinks. Combining new design principles with AMC's training program for food handlers, AMC's concessions eliminate long lines, setting a new standard for the industry.

AMC WestShore 14 Theatres offers industry leading customer service, including a phone-ahead reservation system; AMC's Silence is Golden® program, which encourages patrons to be courteous to those around them; and MovieWatcher®, the nation’s premier frequent moviegoing program that awards points toward free popcorn, soft drinks and more.
